John Dowson Ch lp is the Executive Director and founder of LifeTRUST Planning, an organization that has specialized in Special Needs Planning for parents of people with a disability since 1989. He has spoken on Special Needs Panning issues for people with disabilities throughout Canada and as a keynote speaker at provincial and national conferences.  His insights on Special Needs Planning for people with a disability have been featured in major Canadian newspapers and publications such as, The Toronto Star, The Toronto Sun, The National Post, The Hamilton Spectator, The Investment Executive, and TD Mutual funds performance magazine, Advisors Edge, Disability Reporter, Exceptional Family, Insurance Journal and many more. He was a contributor to the Federal Dept. of Finance’s committee and their report “New Beginnings” that established the Registered Disability Savings Plan

He is a long standing member of `Community Living Central York” as a member of their board he chaired their Community Development and the Fund Raising committee.  He was the producer and host of a weekly television program on Rogers cable TV, a guest columnist for the Newmarket Era and the Upper York Magazine. As a trustee for his niece’s Henson trust John has personally experienced the confusion and misinterpretation that parents often face when planning for the future of their child with a disability.   

 

Mr. Dowson is a recognised guest speaker for Parent groups and community based associations. He conducts educational Special Needs Planning seminars, group planning workshops, Clinics on the Disability Tax Credit and accredited Continuing Education Credit courses for Financial Advisors. He's been instrumental in helping to shape provincial and federal policy that makes Special Needs Planning possible, and literally hundreds of Ontario families have peace of mind that would not have been possible apart from John’s efforts.
